Seat 31 to Paris
I thought I booked different seats. But when I checked in I saw that we had been assigned the last seats of the plane. I asked my partner what she thinks about it, she said it would be fine. There was not much I could do. Only thing could do is just selecting other seats. But that would mean we could not all sit together. It was about preparing it as well. At the end we sat at the last seats all together. I thought that there would be more turbulence back there. I thought that the tailwind would cause more turbulence at the back. I was sure it was the case. I even took a nausea pill that thought it contained Dramamine. I was not sure what that is, but I have read somewhere that it is an active substance in these nausea pills. The pills I took contained only ginger. Does knowing this cancel the placebo effect? I think it partially does.
The only issue at the backseats was the people waiting in queue to use the toilette. But it was not much of an issue at the end, it was not a continuous issue. I am not sure if there was a pattern when people visited the toilette. My mind was trying to convince me there is.
On the plane many people were reading books. In paper. They were French. I loved seeing them. Both the people reading and the sheets of the book lightened by the high plane spotlights.
One hour before landing, I was almost at half of the book Transcription by Ben Lerner. My kids and partner were occupying all the space in row 31, and I was standing. Sometimes sitting on the edge of the chair. A lady was waiting to use the toilette. I noticed she was waiting to long. I glanced her way a couple of times. And the way of the toilette. I was convinced that the toilette door - it was showing occupied - was not properly shut. It happens a lot at home when the kids lock the door, but the door lock is not at the right place. It is not closed. And when they tried to close it, it can't. This is what happened. And I told the lady.
People get confused when they are told something different than what is expected. "But is says occupied" she said. Did she also feel that a long time has passed without anyone exiting the toilette? There was one person that left and she was next. And no one entered. But she was probably not sure. And she was shy to try opening the door. I was not sure either. But I wasn't shy pulling the door to check if it opens, with the risk of finding someone inside. She laughed and thanked me. When she entered and when she exited.
